ABOUT
My practice centres around the intersection of emergent technologies and digital media to communicate big ideas, tell compelling stories and help brands elevate experiences.

My experience brings together three threads:
-
My engineering experience: I developed my ability to understand and communicate difficult concepts, work effectively in a team, manage multiple deadlines and react to ever evolving design scenarios using an agile approach to problem solving
-
My sound design experience: During my most recent Masters in Sound Design I gained a deeper knowledge about the wider field of digital media and its power to convey complex topics
-
My programming experience: Building a knowledge of coding across several languages and the ways in which they can be used to support existing design processes
From using game engines for non-linear composition and storytelling, to using machine learning practices to develop algorithmic composition techniques, I am interested in how technology can be used creatively to further our powers of expression and communication. I have a great appetite for learning and am always looking to further my understanding of the world around me, including everything from XR technologies and machine learning to human behaviour and psychology.

Love of learning
I am always eager to learn and am constantly looking to improve my understanding of key concepts and expand on my existing skill set. Whether it’s understanding the fundamentals of computer science, learning best UX practices or improving my organisational skills.
Here are some examples of what I’m currently learning about and some details about my interest behind them.

Machine Learning

Machine Learning is a particularly interesting topic because of its power to improve everything from creating great product experiences to revealing hidden patterns in large data sets and helping solve complex problems.
I began exploring an interest in Machine Learning by experimenting with training simple classification and linear regression models in Wekinator and am currently learning more about the TensorFlow software library so that I can better understand the processes surrounding building larger ML models using more comprehensive and dense data sets.

Blockchain & Web3

I’m excited by the potential blockchain technology has to transform all industries, from healthcare and education to finance and insurance.
By learning the fundamentals of the technology and staying engaged with the evolution of the space, I am positioning myself to better understand the development of Web3 applications and what this could mean for creating exciting products and brand experiences.

GLSL

I believe that high quality visuals are at the core of creating engaging experiences using digital media. I have been learning the basics of the GLSL shading language to improve my understanding of how graphics pipelines can be controlled to create outstanding visual effects.
By gaining this experience I hope to be able to further my prototyping skills as well as learn a vital part of creating breathtaking visual experiences.

Creative Coding

I have been learning the p5.js JavaScript library to improve my creative coding skills and better understand how to build engaging and immersive online experiences.
I am interested in using code to develop better audio and visual interactions to more clearly communicate ideas and enhance brand experiences.
